Supporting Bible Translation Teaching Missionary Kids - A Great Place to Teach

Considering Enrollment at UIS?

Welcome to Ukarumpa International School.  We’d like to take a few minutes to introduce ourselves to you. Ukarumpa International School is a Christian day school that includes classes from grades Pre-Kindergarten to grade 12.  We are located in the beautiful highlands of Papua New Guinea, about one hour by air from Port Moresby, the capital of PNG and three and a half hours from Lae by road.  The town of Ukarumpa is the setting for our school, nestled within the tropical but comfortable Eastern Highlands Province. Please come inside for a closer look.

Kindergarten

The kindergarten classroom and the primary grades are colourful, interesting learning environments where we introduce our children to the wonderful world of the Kingdom of God and tell them of their place in it.  As we develop literacy and numeracy skills, socialization skills and Bible knowledge, arts, physical education, and explore the world around us, we do so in the knowledge and confession that we are created by God, and that it is our purpose in life to respond to him in obedience, and with joy.  Professionally trained teachers guide the learning process and individually and collectively “train up a child in the way that he or she should go."

Elementary School

The junior grades build on the knowledge acquired in the primary division and expand the students’ horizons.  New areas of interest are explored and new talents are discovered.  The skills or reading and writing, arithmetic and social sciences become somewhat more complex and more interrelated.  Bible classes and Bible memory work continue to be an important part of the curriculum and Biblical concepts are applied in all the curricular areas.  Again, bright, well-decorated classrooms create a rich learning environment for our students.

Middle School

Students in grades 7 & 8 are being groomed for further studies in high school.  They delve deeper into literature and the structure of language, into the axioms and problem solving of mathematics, into history, geography and science, art, music and physical education, always guided by the perspective of the Word of God.

High School

One of the strengths of Ukarumpa International School is that students can continue their studies in our high school.  Here in grades 9 through 12 students can concentrate on studies that are a continuation of the strong foundations laid in the grade school.  They can focus in more depth on the various disciplines of literature, mathematics, Bible, history, geography, the sciences, law, family studies, economics, computers, etc. all within the same Biblical perspective that permeates our entire curriculum.  Modern science and computer laboratories provide the tools necessary for this level of study.
